Abstract

The article is focused on the multi-level process of improving the actor’s voice emission in the Leningrad (St. Petersburg) school of stage speech as well as the role played in it by breathing exercises in movement. The reform, which was carried out in the 1970s by, among others, A. Kunitsyn and B. Muravyov – lecturers at the Leningrad State Institute of Music Theater and Cinema,
resulted in the implementation of the following methods in the training process: the method of complex voice and speech training, the method of working on speech in motion, the method of intermediate influence on voice and diction technique, and the method of working on voice and diction in entertainment. According to the pedagogues of the above-mentioned center, an important aspect of improving the actor’s voice also appears to be the inclusion of elementary acting tasks in emission training, as well as the creation of an atmosphere for working on the voice full of security, patience and understanding towards the student.
