Abstract

The research described in this article concerned the instrumental assessment of tongue position when pronouncing [r]. The participants were Polish-speaking people using standard speech.
The study focused on ultrasound images of the back of the tongue in the coronal plane. The results confirm the existence of phenomena that are described for other languages. The results and the method could broaden the perspective for research in Polish language .The research results confirm the existence of phenomena that are described in other languages. Interestingly, reports about them have already been mentioned in Polish literature on the subject. Ultrasound examinations can broaden the perspective for research in the Polish language.
